Land Lease in Dhaka: Frequently Asked Questions

Check the title deed, the latest record of rights (khatian), the mutation (namjari) record, up-to-date land development tax receipts and that the land is free of mortgages or disputes. Also confirm the land can legally be used for your purpose.

A lease of land for more than one year generally has to be registered under the Registration Act, 1908. Registration gives both landowner and tenant legal protection. We recommend getting legal advice on the final deed.
